Bomb Bowling Mech WIP #2

Another update on the robot dude. I am still trying to make things work and possibly giving some character through shapes, without making it look too human. Also keeping an eye open for detail distribution- I want to keep some forms unified and simple to contrast with the complexity of more internal/vulnerable parts (without being particularly successful til now lol). The process on this one feels more like sculpting than painting, I am constantly adding layers of mass and then cutting. No textures or 3d geometry are used- and it is SO hard :|

Oh and a little bonus, I did a quit comp of two of my characters to use as a banner for my DA page. Check it out!

Bomb Bowling Mech WIP

Well, I will kick-start this blog with me attempting to draw hard surface...  x__X  Robots have always fascinated me, but what really gave me the thrills was dudes that could pull off awesome mech designs. I have been talking to some very inspiring people lately and I decided to bite the bullet, kick myself out of comfort zone and try some for practice. This is already A PAIN without 3D geometry and textures, but I will keep pushing it and post the results. Unfortunately, although I did try to have function in mind, I could not avoid the mashy greeblefuck style (sorry Kai!).
